About Us

WELCOME TO ROSSVILLE FCCLA!

My name is Nicole Welshans, FACS teacher and FCCLA advisor at Rossville Jr/Sr High School in Rossville, KS. FCCLA, or Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, is a national non-profit organization that focuses on Family and Consumer Sciences. Created in 1945, FCCLA is the only family-oriented organization. FCCLA allows students through grade 12 to show their leadership skills through STAR events (Students Taking Action for Recognition) and national programs.

Our goal for Rossville FCCLA is to promote our views through student leadership as according to the national mission, which states: "To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation." Our members have shown what we have learned and developed through participation in STAR events at the district, state, and national level.

Currently, we have 20 participating members in our chapter. This year, we have 5 state qualifiers! In 2017, we had 8 state qualifiers and 1 national qualifier.
